Tell me about a time when you felt discriminated against, picked on, or bullied and how that impacts how you do your job?
At a previous employer there were complaints about me using the restroom that aligns with my gender identity. The HR manager wanted to respond by placing restrictions on me, the only openly gender queer employee at the office but my boss shot them down. That day continues to inspire me to be that same kind of person–someone who stands up for others and defends them when they are in need.
What’s the best piece of advice you can give to anyone who is being discriminated against at work?
Don’t be discouraged; take notes and seek help. You deserve better.
