Biography
I graduated from the Universidad Católica de Honduras in the city of Tegucigalpa, Honduras in 2019. I have been practicing law for 5 years now. I have had different jobs in my career, all of which have contributed to my knowledge and expertise in different branches of the law. Most of my jobs have focused on the Administrative Law, however. I have overseen the emission of sanitary licenses while working in the Secretary of Health in Honduras. I did this by reviewing and making sure the documentation was complete and met the requirements needed. I was also able to work at the Secretary of Justice where I was in charge of reviewing the documentation and aiding in the process of constituting small and medium businesses, focusing on rural areas in Honduras.
I, however, was able to work in a couple of other cases ranging from civil cases to employment cases. I have always tried my best to treat the clients with respect and admiration since that is what an attorney is supposed to do. You never know how much courage it takes to take that first step in looking for legal aid. My goal and motto has always been to find a way to get justice.
About Me
Tell me about a time when you felt discriminated against, picked on, or bullied and how that impacts how you do your job?
It happened when I was working in the Secretary of Health here in Honduras. People would not take my opinion into consideration because I was the youngest and because we had different political opinions. In other words, since I didn’t belong to the same political party as my other co-workers, I was cast aside.
Why did you decide to practice employment law?
I chose employment law because, in a way, I have also been a victim of the injustice that employees suffer. It might have not been due to differences in religion or race but due to something that shouldn’t influence the decision of keeping me or letting me go as an employee.
What’s the most important aspect of the law to you?
To let justice be done. To give the people what they deserve.
