Biography
My name is Elia Sofía Alfaro Encinas and I am from Mexico. I have been a practicing lawyer for more than 10 years and it is my passion in life to help people gain peace and certainty while navigating what can sometimes become a legal storm. I love to read and learn new things, specially if I can put it to use in the benefit of others. Ones’ professional activity becomes very important in life and having something threaten this can have a negative impact in life, so it makes me very happy to be able to lend a helping legal hand to those who are having a hard time in any sort of process.
About Me
Why did you decide to practice employment law?
Being in this branch of law gives me a sense of purpose just knowing that my energy is being focused on making a difference in easing a person’s life who dedicates their precious time performing their jobs and that sometimes get wronged by their employer.
Why is it important to you to represent real people instead of companies?
Though employees are not a minority group in society, this is a sector which is usually taken advantage of by big corporations and having the chance to make even the slightest difference gives me joy.
What’s the best piece of advice you can give to anyone who is being discriminated against at work?
Speak up. Always do it through the correct channels and with previous research about what you might be getting into, but always speak your truth and protect your dignity, it will pave the way for many others to come.
