About Me
Tell me about a time when you felt discriminated against, picked on, or bullied and how that impacts how you do your job?
There was a time when my supervisor discriminated me because of the fact that he was a lawyer and I was a Paralegal that time. Way back then, he would make me feel that Paralegal is no match with him. While working in his firm, he gives me jobs that are not even related with legal works but more like a personal assistant. He even mentioned that I will never be a lawyer or something in legal profession. That incident actually had a huge impact on my job; I had to resigned to protect my health as well physically and mentally. That experience definitely taught me that we all experience different kinds of discrimination at workplace and we should not allow them to get into our heads and fight for what we believe is right.
What was law school like? Did you have any second thoughts along the way?
Law School was hard, I can say. It definitely needs a person who is dedicated to study. Also, I can say Law school is for those who have strong heart and has determination to finish it. I haven’t any second thought along the way because it is always my dream to be a lawyer. It was hard but not enough reason for me to give up my dreams.
What’s the best piece of advice you can give to anyone who is being discriminated against at work?
The best advice I can give to a victim of discrimination, keep records, know your rights and always speak up to any trusted authority. It is always a settled rule that, protecting yourself is the first step to stopping discrimination.
