Biography
Mark B. August is a licensed attorney in Ohio with a strong background spanning law, business, compliance, education, and military leadership. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, completing certificates in Business and Commercial Law as well as Securities and Investments Compliance. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati’s Lindner College of Business with a certificate in Generative Artificial Intelligence, a Master of Science in Homeland Security from San Diego State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of San Diego, where he received the Outstanding Sophomore in Political Science Award.
Professionally, Mark has developed expertise across diverse legal and regulatory settings. As a Compliance Associate at BSL Group, he conducted compliance analyses for emerging technology clients, drafted regulatory guidance, and created AI-driven compliance tracking tools. At LawCity, he designed and presented a multi-state CLE program on Web3 for attorneys and advised legal teams on integrating blockchain, cryptocurrency, and generative AI. His earlier work at Impact Disability involved supporting high-volume Social Security disability claims through legal research, case preparation, and client advocacy.
Beyond practice, Mark has served as a Professor at Pueblo Community College, where he taught legal writing, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills, earning recognition with a New Teacher of the Year nomination. He also brings leadership experience as a United States Army Infantry Officer, where he commanded platoon-level units, led NATO joint training exercises in Bulgaria, and was responsible for millions of dollars in equipment.
Mark has also been active in legal innovation and civic engagement. As a Team Lead in the University of Denver’s Law & Innovation Lab, he helped design a web application enabling tenants to challenge unlawful landlord practices, winning the People’s Choice Award. His earlier community development work included contributing to economic revitalization strategies for Liberty, Missouri.
